NAIDOC week is a time to celebrate, honour and acknowledge the history, culture, and resistance of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme, 50 Years of Deadly, is more than marking a milestone of 5 decades of NAIDOC Week. It recognises the strong and long-term work and leadership of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities to be heard, to progress the rights of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to celebrate culture and history.
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to acknowledge the profound connection Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the land, waterways, and culture. It is an opportunity to reflect on the great achievements and commit to elevating Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander voices and creating a culturally inclusive and responsive learning and working environment for students and staff.
Through events, storytelling, and cultural activities held across the country, NAIDOC Week promotes understanding, respect and action which are key to addressing racism and discrimination.
