The theme for NAIDOC Week 2022 is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!
National NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to come together to recognise, learn about and celebrate the rich history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme, Get Up! StandUp! Show Up!,
- recognises and celebrates the many, in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, who have driven and led change and have championed for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- invites Aboriginal and Torres Strit Islander peoples to rally around their mob, their Elders and their communities in a push for genuine systemic change based on justice, equity and a true recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ basic human rights.
- challenges non-Indigenous Australians to move beyond superficial acknowledgement, good intentions and hollow promises and make a genuine commitment to amplify Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and support and secure meaningful institutional, collaborative and cooperative reforms.
