Murder of Liep Gony

Federal Immigration Minister, Kevin Andrews publicly declares his concern about the slow integration of African humanitarian arrivals. He expressed particular concern about the apparent violent behaviour of young Sudanese men; one of whom, Liep Gony, was found dead in a Melbourne street. His non-African attackers were later charged and convicted of his murder. A report by the Australian Human Rights commission entitled African Australians Project: Australia’s migration policies: African dimensions examines how racially biased attitudes are reflected in public discourse and government policies towards Africans.
