This exchange was a Studies of Religion inter-faith project aimed at developing understanding about Christianity and Islam.
In this project, senior students from a St Josephs College and Wiley Park Girls High School came together to learn about each others’ religions and cultures.
St Josephs College is a Catholic boys school located in Hunters Hill, Sydney. The vast majority of students are Christian. St. Josephs was founded by the Marist Brothers in 1881. The College is situated on 16 hectares overlooking the Lane Cove and Parramatta Rivers, and the city of Sydney six kilometres away.
Wiley Park Girls High School is a government girls school located in south western Sydney. Most of its students come from language backgrounds other than English. Many of its students are Muslim. Wiley Park Girls prides itself on being an exemplary multicultural school. Great emphasis is placed on creating a tolerant harmonious environment in which the educational programs focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for all students. Students have a variety of cultural backgrounds, the largest groups being those who come from homes where Arabic or Vietnamese are spoken.
